The finished sauce can be tossed with cooked pasta, or it can be used as a topping for pizzas and calzones. Tomato sauce with butter and onion is an easy and delicious sauce that can be enjoyed any night of the week.

Ingredients

1 28oz Can of San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes

5 tbsp Butter

1 medium onion, halved or diced

Kosher salt

Method

Crush the tomatoes with your hands, or puree in a blender for a smoother sauce.

Place tomatoes in a saucepan with the butter and onion, and salt to taste.

Simmer for 45 minutes stirring often, until thickened.

Before serving, remove onion. You may add the onion, chopped, to your pasta, discard, or even leave it in the sauce if you wish.
