Ingredients

1 lb brioche, panettone, or other enriched bread sliced 3/4 inch thick

6 large eggs

1 1/2 cups milk

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 stick butter, softened

1/3 cup light brown sugar

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp fine sea salt

confectioners sugar

Method

Butter a 2 quart baking dish.

Butter one side of each slice of bread and place standing up in baking dish.

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, heavy cream, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla until smooth.

Pour mixture over top of the bread evenly, Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees the next morning when ready to eat.

Remove plastic wrap and bake for 50-60 minutes, until puffy, golden, and set in the center.

If top starts to brown to quickly, tent with foil.

Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Dust with confectioners sugar and serve with maple syrup.
